The Hon. Jameß Allen was the guest of the Parliamentary Association at luncheon, the Speaker presiding. The Chief Justice and others were present.
Mr Sproule welcomed Mr Allen. Mr Borden, Premier, referred to tho great progress of New Zealand in coming with other portions of tho Empire to the great task which lay before the Island Dominion.
Sir Wilfred Laurier, leader of the Opposition, referred to tho All-red steamships, hoping the Borden Government would carry out the scheme. Direct lines between Vancouver, Australia and New Zealand were absolutely necessary.
Mr Allen concurred with Sir W. Laurier as to the necessity of the steamßhipe.
