SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
- ANNUAL ELECTIONS. TE KUITI. The annual meeting of householders was held at Te Kuiti school on Monday evening. There was a good attendance and considerable interest was manifested in the proceedings. The following were elected a committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs Walsh, Dr Mcßae, Jane, Robinson, M. J. Jones, P. Cotter, Thomas, Smith, and Fletcher. Mr Walsh was re-elected chairman, and Mr Jane secretary and treasurer.
HANGATIKI. A large and representative meeting of householders assembled in the school to elect a committee to represent them for the ensuing year. Mr Parlane waß elected to the chair, and having read the balance-sheet for the past year, called for nominations. Nine having been accepted a ballot was taken, and the following members were declared duly elected: — Messrs A. Wilson, W. Parlane, F. Hyde, B. Board, and Riri Moerua. Mr Parlane was unanimously elected chairman.
Mr Parlane thanked the members of the committee for the honour and hoped that in the name of himself and his colleagues, a successful and satisfactory year's work will be put in. TE RAU-A-MOA. The annual meeting of householders, presided over by Mr J. Randall, was held in the sschoolhouse on Monday last. The gathering, if not large, as representative. The chairman announced that since the last meeting of householders the attendance at the school had decreased. The cause was traceable to exchange of piopsFt. : C2. families having sold out and left i.:c district. In previous year's the attendance had warranted seven of a committee, now five would suffice. Reference was made to school prizes, and after the work for the year had been reviewed by the speaker, nominations for the committee were taken. As there were eight nominations, a ballot was necesßary. Voting resulted in the following gentlemen being elected: —E. E. Messrs Le Prow, chairman, G. W. Douglas, secretary, W. Dayah, Dassler, and J. G. Parkinson.
On the motion of Mr Douglas it was resolved to write to the Education Board approving of the recommendations made by the inspectors of schools in their annual report, that swimming be part of the school curriculum. The meeting favoured the construction of swimming hatha to the for reasons as outlined in inspectors' reDort9. On vacating the chair, Mr Randall, who would not allow himself to bo nominated as a committeeman, was accorded a hearty vote of thank 3 for services so ably rendered in the past. Mr Randall thanked the householders, and said he would endeavour to take in the future the same interest in school matters as he had taken in the past. For business and other reasons he felt bound to take the step he was taking. . Mr E. E. Le ProW, the new chairman, epressed himself in favour of effecting, of possible, certain improvements to the school building and grounds. The question of lining the school had already been brought under the notice of the Education Board.
