TE KUITI SPORTS.

A SUCCESSFUL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Te Kuiti Sports Club was held a the Domain on Wednesday last. Beautiful weather prevailed and there was a large attendance. A widely varied programme had been prepared for the occasion, a feature being made of children's events, and these were got off in good , style early in the day. The track was in fair order though somewhat rough in those places where recent improvements had been effected. The star event of the athletic section was the Te Kuiti Cup of three distances. The event was won by Lambert, who ran consistently and scored first in each of the heats. The chopping events provided interesting contests and as usual constituted a popular feature of the programme. Considerable interest was taken in the tug-of-war. Three teams competed, including two European and a Maori side. The first pull between the Limeworks representatives and a town team proved very exciting. The town side possessed the weight and in the first few seconds almost got their opponents over the line, but condition told it 3 tale, and the Limeworks men sticking to the task, graduallv regained their ground and finaily scored a win. The Maori team which was strong and weighty had no difficulty in pulling the Limaworks men after the lafcters' strenuous pull against the townsmen. The fire brigade on the programme proved highly interesting, and the experience should be of value to the younger brigades. The Hamilton No. 1 team secured the honours in both events, but all the competing teams performed creditably. Following are the results: — Maiden Race.—D. Mitchell 1, L. Shergold 2. Boys' Race.—Porter 1, Matthew 2, Whaley 3, Whaley 4. Hurdle Race.—C. Scelly 1, G. Bradley 2, R. Coburn 3. Te Kuiti Cup.—E. Lambert first in 100 yds, 220 yds and 440 yds; R.
