THE APPROACHING CONTEST.

Aa the date of nomination approaches interest in the Borough Council elections increases, and several new candidates have been talked of. However, the question of who is going to stand will be finally settled on Wednesday. It is stated that in addition to those mentioned last week, Mr Mabbett will in all probability offer his services. The Ratepayers' Association js manifesting considerable interest in the election and has extended an invitation to the candidates to lay their views before the public on Monday evening next.
