METHODIST ANNIVERSARY.
The first anniversary of the Sunday schools in connection with the above church took place last Sunday, when members and well-wishers attended in large numbers. At the Municipal Hall on Monday evening the tea meeting was a huge success, everything passing off successfully. The committee in charge of the function must be congratulated on the completeness of arrangements. The scholars attended in good numbers at the anniversary entertainment afterwards, and rendered several items. The musical items were contributed by the male choir and Messrs Pattison and Lowe, and recitations rendered by scholars —Eva Legg, Alice Wooles, Eva Fitzpatrick. Addresses were delivered by Revs. Armstrong and Griffiths, and on behalf of the church officers and members Mr R. B. Webber, presented Mr Gosnell with a wallet containing sovereigns, and in wishing him success in his new sphere of ministration, assured Mr Goanell of a hearty welcome back to Te Kuiti should conference decide to again station him in the town. The following children were awarded prizes:—Eva Legg, Catherine Wooles, Hazel Daniels, Prank Thomas, Percy Murray, Minnie Thomas, Jack Snowden, Trevor Legg, Roy Danieb, Flo Legg, Rex Thomas, Annie Murray, Edgar Rieliy, Sydney Legg, K. Graham, Eva Fitzpatrick, Tom Whaley, Jane Daniels, Dolly Snowden, Queenie Higgs, W. Nicholls, Mary Snowden, Nicholas Snowden, Elsie Legg, Florrie Wilson, Stanley Nicholls, Harry Whaley, Allen Blomfield, Harry Buckton, Leslie Legg, Thomas Smith, Alice Wooles, Harry Smith, Earnest Sanderson, Willie Whaley, Thelma Law, Albert Smith, Frank Maxwell, Trevor Blomfield. Special prizes, donated by Mrs Macdonald, were won by Phoebe Higgs and Alice Wooles for most regular attendance, and Thomas and Harry Smith were awarded prizes, they being the first scholars joining the Sunday school. School report was read by the secretary, and the following information extracted from same: The Sunday school was opened on March 31st, 1912, with two scholars —Thomas and Harry Smith—and the schools now registers fifty scholars. First Sunday school teachers' meeting numbered five, now the number is nine. The average attendance at Sunday school in Te Kuiti is twenty-four; at Mangaorino road average twelve out of thirteen scholars. Messrs Brockway and Smith have walked four miles every Sunday to teach the children at the road school. The library now numbers forty books, and the finances of the school are in a flourishing condition, there being a balance of £3 3s lOid. The report gave general satisfaction. The Rev. E. S. Wayne was absent owing to ill-health and sent an j apology.
