EMPRESS PICTURES. To-night's change programme in culdes "Alone in Paris." Rane Fischer, a miller, has fallen in love with Lisbeth, who comes weekly w;'th her sister to deliver him clean Hi Francine and Lisbeth both love him, but when Francine discovers that Rane's love is for Lisbeth she takes ill, and comes very near death. Lisbeth persuades Rane to marry her sister as it is the only thing that will save her life. Rane consents and the marriage takes place. The day of the festivity over, Lisbeth leaves Alsace, the doctor's good-bye being the last spoken to her. Arrived in Paris she gets an engagement by Ratineau, a stage manager, to take the place of a great dancer, and is very successful. She becomes rich and makes Ratineau hnppy by leaving him independent for life. Later, tired of stage life, she returns to the village of Alsace, where she finds her sister and brother-in-law very happy with a little girl. She finds also that the doctor has not forgotten, and it is not long before she discovers the second love is best. Supported by the latest scenic, topical, comedy and dramatic subjects.
