WAIKATO HOSPITAL BOARD.

The Waik".to Hospital Board met at Hamilton c;i Thursday. There were present—Messrs Bailey (chairman), Keeley, Young, Dickinson, Johnstone, Finch, Teasdale, Shaw and McKinnon. Representation. The InspectorGeneral wrote, in reply to an enquiry, pointing out that fresh valuations for the Waika o district will not be available for at least five months. It is also questionable whether a fresh valuation would make any alteration with regard to the apportionment of representation. Sanitary Inspector's Salary. The district health officer notified the board that the 'Huntly Town Board's subsidy for the sanitary inspector's services had been increased from £5 to £lO. The amount suggested was £ls, but he advised acceptance of the smaller sum in the meantime. —Received.

He also stated that the Frankton Town Board had Increased thier subsidy frons£lo to £2o.—Received. Inspector Calderwood. —Dr Makgill wrote pointing out that while Inspector Bennett was on the Civil List Inspector Calderwood, stationed at Taumarunui, was not a civil servant, and therefore his salary could not be paid by the Health Department, but would have to be paid by the board direct. Kawhia Hospital Site.—The Commissioner of Crown Lands, writing re the hospital site at Kawhia, said he was not in a position at present to communicate any definite arrangement, but hoped to be able to secure the reservation of an area which would meet all tha requirements and wishes of the district. Bread Contractor.—Mr R. A. Grigg. baker, complained that the board was not giving him a fair inquiry regarding the quality of his bread. Received.

Resignations.—Miss Ida Holden's resignation as sister was accepted with regret, the board placing on re 5 cord an appreciation of her services. Miss N. McFarland, probationer at the hospital, tendered her resignation, which was accepted. Dr Douglas. grant Dr Douglas a further three months' leave of absence.

Hospital Patients. —The number of patients at last return was 62 females and 37 males; admitted since, 52-24; deaths, 5-3; discharged, 45-27; remaining at date, 64-31.
