The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report: — We held sales during the week at Ohaupo, Ngaruawahia and Otorohanga, and report good yardings of cattle, which nearly all changed hands Prices:—Fat cows £6 to £7, fat heifers £6 5s to £6 10s, store cows £3 8s to £3 19s, forward cows £4 4s to £4 12s, two and a half year steers £4 12s 6d to £4 17s 6d, eighteen months steers £3 16s to £4, fifteen months steers £3 5s to £3 10s, two year heifers in calf £4 13s to £4 17s, cows and calves £5 5s to £5 15s, sprinigng heifers £6 10a to £7 10s, well grown calves of good quality 35s to 465, medium sorts 28s to 325, others 20s to 245, two tooth to f.f m. ewes lis 9d to 13s, two and four tooth wethers 13s 7d to 13s lOd. The Farmers' Go-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report:— At the Matiere yards on March 6th we had an entry of 1400 sheep and 1100 head of cattle, and have to report a very good sale. Two tooth wethers made 13s to 13s Gd, good woolly lambs 9s to lis. really good Romney-Lincoln ewes up to 14s, f.f.m. ewes 9s 3d to 12s, four tooth wethers 15s 3d, three year steers in good order £6 Is to £6 15s, two and a half year steers of which there was a large entry £5 3a to £5 15s, eighteen months to two year Steers £3 12s to £4 10s, fat cows £5 5s to £6, calves 30s to 37s 6d. At Otorohanga on March 27th there was a fair entry. Prices ruled much the same as in Waikato, and nearly everything Was disposed of.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. Wellington, Monday. The following is the High Commissioner's cable, dated London, March 29th, 1913, quotations unless otherwise' specified are average market prices on spot: — Mutton.—The market is steady, with improved demand. Canterbury 4Jd, North Island 4£d. Lamb. —The market is firmer, with more demand Canterbury fifd, other than Canterbury 6d. Beef.—The market is quiet, but ateady. New Zealand hindquarters 4d, fores 3Jd. Butter.—The market is dull except for best quality, for which the market is quiet but steady. Choiest New Zealand per cwt. 119s salted and 120s iunaalted; Australian Argentine 109s; Siberia 111b: Danish 1295. Cheese.—The market is very quiet. New Zealand 61s per cwt. Hemp.—Thft market remains very fiat. Spot New Zealand good fair, per ton, £34; fair, £3l; fair current Manila, £33; April to June shipments of New Zealand good fair, £34 10s; fair, £3l 10s; fair current Manila, £34.' The output from Manila for the week was 20,000 bales. Wool. —The maik;t ramaina firm for merino, but is eaiser for crossbreds.
Linseed. —The mp.-ket is firm. New Zealand 56h per cwt. nominal.
