THE RUAPEHU TRADGEDY.
- BINGHAM'S BODY FOUND.
SEARCHERS' TERRIBLE JOURNEY. rII v Tl'Xl'XiU At'll.-~I'K.i:SS SNNOI'J ATI (IN.] Ohukunn, Friday. Tho tally of tho unfortunate party which got lost on Ruapehu is now complete. Tho body of W. Napier Bingham was found yesterday up tho bed of the Manganui-a-te-ao, just at tho spot described by Mies Cocho. It Was very sad breaking the news to the young man's widowed mother, who came up from Dannevirke on Tuesday, and has been waiting patiently for two days for news of her missing son. Much sympathy is felt for her. Deceased was a fino young fellow, very intelligent, and smart at his profession as a chemist. From some of the accounts that have circulated it might bo inferred that Bingham was the drag on the lost party, owing to his helplessness. Such was not the case. Ho was not the most robust of the party, but, at tho same time, was not a weakling by any means. Ho was not used to roughing if. and the trip up through the bush on Saturday knockod him up somewhat. He was all right on Sunday and Monday, and when they really knew they were lost, Miss Cocho says the young follow took it most philosophically, never complaining, and taking his fair share of responsibility.
