THANKS AND APPEAL.
The Editor. gi r> —Kindly permit me through the press to return thanks to the Empress Picture Co. for their recent benefit, also to Mesdamea Cowan and McColl and Messrs Blackman, Lowo and Christian for their much appreciated contributions to the musical part of the programme. The backblocks medical scheme is now an accomplished fact. Dr McLcod, the chosen of the committee, has taken up his duties at Pio Pio; as from March 15th. fhe medical residence will be con nected by telephone to all parts of the district at the earliest possible moment. In order to obtain the Government subsidy on every shilling subscribed we appeal to settlers to forward their promised donations at once, as no subsidy can be obtained until thp funds are in the hands of the Waikato Hospital Board. —I am, etc., G. ELLIOTT, Hon. Sec. Pio Pio District Medical Committe.
