FATALITY NEAR OPARURE.

A DRIVER KILLED.

A sad accident occurred on the Arapae road on Saturday afternoon last resulting in the death of a man named Peter Lenihan, employed by Mr N. C. Innes, contractor. Deceased was driving a dray loaded with a tank of water up a hill towards the crusher at the corner of the Arapae and Trooper's roads. When passing Mr Davidson's residence the horses shied and the dray swerved over the bank and capsized, pinning the driver under the wheel and killing him instantly. The body was brought to Te Kuiti and an inquest was held on Saturday night before Mr J. Tammadge, deputy-coroner. Evidence concerning the occurrence was given by Horace Pegg and Thomas Tallemy, drivers employed by Mr Innes, and who witnessed the accident, also by Mr Innes. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death.
