KIRITEHERE-MOEATOA.
Own Correspondent. An extraordinarily heavy tide lapped up to the floor of the Marokopa settlers' shed and wetted several bales of wool, part of a large consignment stored there. Fortunately the damage was not serious and the bales were quickly billeted up and stacked to dry, and the Dawn is now in the river loading them up for shipment to Wellington. The district hereabout is supplying a fair quantity of cream to the Marokopa dairy factory, and a much larger supply is anticipated for the forthcoming season. The Marokopa-Te Kuiti mail contractor intends putting on a fourwheeler for parcel and passenger traffic between Te Kuiti and Mangaohae. The great increase in the weight of mail, and the inconvenience of pack-horse transit, warrants this step, and no doubt it should prove beneficial to all concerned. The metalling of the road from the Arapae to Mr Seller's farm will prove" a help to vehicles over a soft section of road.
