PROPOSED NEW LOAN.
FOR ARIA ROADS. The settlers in the Aria district are determined to lose no opportunity of getting their roads metalled in order to provide ready access to the dairy factory. It is also realised by them that situated as they are a considerable distance from the railway, the progress -of the district depends to great extent upon means of transit at all seasons. At last mating of the Waitomo County Council an intimation was received from Mr J. r. Kenny, on behalf of the settlers affected to the effect that it was deto raise a special loan to metal of the Kuruare, Kie Kie ana Psraheka roads. A subsidy has already been voted for tie loan already raised itf.'the district, and as there is an amount in excess of requirements it is intended to apply to have the amount transferred to the proposed new loan. • If this course is adopted it is esti/aaiedtnat a rata of 2|d in the £ on the properties benefitted by the work will provide sufficient money to metal six or seven miles of the reacts mentioned. The work would be a great benefit to the settlers, as the roada in question are some of the worst in the whole district.
