A tremendous sensation has been caused here by the publication of news from New Zealand that Captain Scott and his party perished in a blizzard after having reached the South Pole on January ißth. The party which was lost was that which made the final dash for the Pole, the names of its members being : CAPTAIN R. F. SCOTT, C.V.0., R.N., Commander of the Expedition. DR. E. A. WILSON, Chief of the Scientific Staff, Zoologist and Artist. CAPTAIN L. E. Q. OATES, of the Inniskilling Dragoons, in Charge of the Ponies and Dogs. LIEUTENANT BOWERS. PETTY OFFICER EVANS.
