TE KUITI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Te Kuiti Borough Council was held on Monday evening in the Council Chambers. There were present—His Worship th 9 Mayor, Crs Lusk, Julian, Jones Walsh, Somer viile, Tammadge and Lever.

Dog Tax.—Mr W. Cantlon was re appointed dog tax collector for the ensuing term, the amount of the tax to remain the same as for the previous term.

Rate Collection. that all rates unpaid after March Bth should be charged interest at the rate of 10 per cent. Bank Overdraft. The necessary motion empowering the council to borfow from the bank were passed.

Loan Proposal.-rLetters were read from the Public Trustee approving of the council's application for a loan of £13,000, of which £SOO is to be ad •vanced during May, and the balance within one year. The Mayor announced that the necessary documents were now in course of preparation, and temporary arrangements of a satisfactory nature had been concluded with the Bank of New Zealand. fistic Tank.—Messrs H. H. Metcalf and Son wrote intimating that they were communiciating with the Health Department concerning the outflow from the septic tank, and as soon as possible the work of plastering would be completed.-The clerk announced that the work was now in hs-nd.—Dr Magkill, district health officer, wrote stating that it was advisable the effluent f-om the septic tank should be discharged directly into the stream, but that the school authorities should be warned to prevent school children playing about ths rlvsr Ministerial Visit.—The Hon. W. H. Herrie<, Minister for Railways and Native Affairs, in reply to an imitation to visit the district, stated he would be glad to accept but could not yet fix a definite date. He would advise the clerk later as to when he could come. . Fire Brigade.—The superintendent, Mr H.
