COMPULSORY SERVICE.
THE NEW ZEALAND SYSTEM. By Telegraph—Press Association.—OopyriffJiV London, Thursday. Sir Josgeph Ward was the principal guest at a dinner given by the Leatborsellers' Association last night. In proposing the toast "The Imperial Forces," Sir Joseph said that practically every man and woman in New Zealand favoured compulsory mliitary service. While he thought, however, that the internal military defence of the country should be based on the compulsory system, no one bad a right to expect that New Zealanders should extend their Bervices outside their own country, unless they did so as volunteers.
