Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual weekly fat stock sale at Westfield on Wednesday, January 29th, as under: — Beef. —A moderate yarding. Prices were a shade higher than last week. Choice pens of prime ox fetched up to 25s 6d per 1001b, ordinary quality ox at 24s 6d, cow and heifer beef sold at equal to 23s to 255. Veal.—A small yarding, prices were firmer. Heavy runners made £2 5s to £3 2s, choice suckers 30s to 38s, others 3s to 255. Mutton.—A small yarding, prices higher than last quotation. Extra heavy prime wethers to 21s ?d, medium weight wethers 17s to 18s 6d, heavy ewea 14s to 16s 6d, medium dittojjlls 6d to 13s 6d. Lamb. A smaller yarding than usual, prices were a shade higher than last week. Heavy woolly made up to 16s 6d, good 13s to 4a 6d, light and inferior 6s 6d to 9s. Pork. —An average yarding. Heavy porkers made up to £2 14s, light do. 29s to 365. '

THE LONDON WOOL SALES. HIGH CLOSING PRICES. London, Thursday. The wool sales closed yesterday. Competition was brisk, and the prices realised were the highest of the series. During the sales 78,000 bales were sold to Home buyers, 43,000 to Continental buyers, 9000 to American buyers, while 5000 were held over. America's purchases were entirely crossbreds. A atrong buying movement developed during the past few days, owing to the shortage in South America and Australia.

All merinos closed at 5 par cent, above th 9 opening rates. Fine and medium crossbreds brought from par to 5 per cent, above the December rates, whilst the prices of coarse were equal to those of December. Lambs were scarce, and realised 7& per cent, above the previous rates. The Ngakanui clip realised a top price of 13d, and an average price of 12id.
