AWAKINO ROAD.
WORK TO BE UNDERTAKEN. A wire was recently forwarded by the local branch of the Reform League to the Hon. W. Fraser, Minister for Public Works, asking the reason of the delay in starting work on the Awakino Road. In reply the Minister wired that the "delay is owing to the County Council declining to expend money offered in December last. I learn from head office that immediate steps are being taken to finish formation and have gravel laid on certain portion. Tenders are being called for balance. —■ W. FRASER, Minister Public Works."
