PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT HOME.
A very well attended and enjovable "At Home" was he'd by the managers and ladies of the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday last in the Municipal Hall. The interior of the hall was effectively transformed by artistic decoration, the arrangements being on the lines of a beautiful drawing room. The Rev. A. Armstrong presided over the gathering, the object of which was a re-union of the church people and also to afford an opportunity of recognising the marriage of Mr Lumsden, one of the church managers, and of extending a "reception" to Mrs Lumsden. During the evening the following excellent programme was ren dered:—Pianoforte solo, Mrs B. MacKay; duets, "Excelsior," Messrs Tassell and A. Pattison; "Nocturne," Mrs W. Cowan and Mr A. Pattison; solos, Miss I. Mills, Mr W. Cowan, Messrs Dilkes, Tassell and Guy Adams; recitations, Miss E. Law, i Messrs Dilkes, Adams and Armstrong. At the conclusion of the programme the' Rev. A. Armstrong, on behalf of the managers, members and adherents of the Te Kuiti Presbyterian Church, presented Mr Lumsden with a beautiful salad bowl and servers, making eulogistc reference to high esteem in which Mr Lumsden is held as an official of the church, and extending a very hearty welcome to Mrs Lumsden to Te Kuiti. Mr Lumsden suitably replied in a neat little speech, after which a first-class supper was provided by the ladies, and the gathering concluded with the typical refrain, "An' here's a band ma hearty freen," etc. Mr A. E. Robinson, agent, with his well-known generosity, kindly loaned one of his first-class pianos for the occasion.
