PROJECTED METALLING LOAN.

THE OTEWA .ROAdI At Monday evening's meeting of the Waitomo County Council a deputation consisting of Messrs Larsen and Ferguson, representing a number of Otewa settlers, was introduced by C* Gregg. Mr Larsen said it was desired to carry on metalling work on the Otewa road, a distance of about six an 3 a-half miles. It was proposed to raise a special loan for the purpose and apply for a subsidy of £ for £.

The chairman said it would be necessary for the engineer to make an estimate in order to furnish information. He pointed out that if the subsidy was not obtained it would be advisable to make a larger special area and include all the settlers who would benefit by the work. The deputation promised to go further into the matter with the settlers and draw up an amended special area.
