LONDON WOOL SALES. The Bank of New Zealand have' jreceived the following cable from their London brand: "The sales hav« opened with a strong competition and large attendance of buyers. There is an active demand by Home buyers. Prices have a hardening tendency for crossbred fine greasy average, but have an easier tendency for crossbred medium greasy and crossbred coarse greasy average." The New Zealand Loan and Mercan tile Agency Company, Ltd., and Reduced, have received the following cable from their London office under date of 14th inst.:—"There was a full attendance at the opening sales today. The opening catalogues were fairly representative, competition by Home and Continental buyers being spirited, and prices as compared with the close of the preceding series ruled par to 5 per cent, higher for merino, and greasy crossbred fine. America is buying suitable lots of crossbred. The market is slightly easier for coarse greasy crossbred."
London, Wednesday.At the wool Bales 5068 bales of Australian, 1811 of New Zealand, and 180 of South African were offered, being a fairly representative selection. There was a large attendance from all quarters and splendid competition. Merinos and fine crossbreds were slightly in sellers' favour, low crossbreds barely maintained their position and shabbier and coarse crossbreds were 5 per cent, below the December prices.
FAT STOCK SALE.
Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd.,'report on their Johnsonville sale as follows •-— A good yarding of cattle and a heavy one of sheep came forward. Bidding was very slow, and very small numbers were required, in anticipation of prices being easier next week. Bullocks sold at later rates, whilst sheep were Is 6d to 2s easier than at last quotation. Prime bullocks £% 17a 6d to $l.O 7s 6d, lighter £9 10s to £9 15s, veaiers 20s to 28s, prime wethers 19s, medium wethers 17b, prime eweß 16s 6d to Ib Bd, medium ewes 15s : 7d to 15s 2d, good lambs 13b to 13s 3d. others 12s to 12b 6d.
