AUCKLAND SHOOTING SENSATION.

DENTIST FIRED AT.

YOUNG WOMAN ARRESTED.

A sensational shooting affair occurred at Auckland on Thursday afternoon, when a young woman named Kathleen Sommerville attempted to shoot Mr W.J. Colwell, a well-known city dentist. Mr Colwell has a suite of rooms on the second floor of Smeeton's new buildings, in which he carries on business. Shortly before 1 o'clock a handsome young woman entered the rooms! walked quickly along the passage to Mr Golwell's - entered, and locked the door behind her. She then, it is stated, angrily at tacked the proprietor of the establishment, and threatened that if he did not accede to her proposals, she would kill him. Mr Colwell urged her to leave the premises, and ultimately threatened tu summon the police if she would not do so. The visitor declined, and while in the act of unlocking the door a revolver was fired, the bullet penetrating the wall within an inch of Mr Colwell's temple.. The young woman, with the smoking weapon in her hand, then ran upstairs to the rooms of. Mr Carter, another, dentist, and was arrested.

GIRL BEFORE THE COURT. REMANDED WITHOUT BAIL. Auckland, This Day. Kathleen Somerviile Ryan, charged with shooting at Mr Colwell, dentist, was remanded till Wednesday. Ball wa« not allowed.
