OTOROHANGA.
Own Correspondent,
■ The township has been on the quiet side ever since the Christmas holidays, but was very brisk previous. Without exception the business people report having done record business and particularly noticeable was the large amount of cash business. Tbe contractors expect to have the new courthouse finished within a week, and a very creditable looking building it is, The police station is in course of erection. A business man from Marton has purchased a valuable corner site known as Solomon's corner.
The heavy rains that we have had lately have greatly increased the growth of grass, and dairymen report that the cows are doing well. There certainly .are great numbers of cans of cream sent out of the station daily. Several people have been caught With their hay out during the wet, but trie extra growth will compensate ofr any loss in hay. The, next cattle sale on January 16th is expected to be a very large one.'.
