Sir,—ln your issue of the 4th inst. appears a letter from Mr Livingston, accusing the county council of neglect, and misappropriation of Government monies. He has, sir. on different occasions in the columns of your valuable paper, made wild and incorrect statements concerning the county council. As a rale his letters required no reply from any member of that body, because of the want o£ knowledge indicated by bim, and tntf •lidiculous Dosition be placed himself in in trying to criticise things be knew nothing about. But now, sir, the old adage: "Give rope enough, etc.," and the inevitable happens. 0«i this occasion he has overshot the mark—he has descended from the ridiculous to the venomous, and it is getting rather serious when _ f be accuses councillors of raisappropriat- ,- ing public monies because, it his acj. cusations are true, the councillors of the Waitomo County Council should be prosecuted. I would therefore ask Mr Livingston does he accuse the council as a whole of misappropriating this money, or is it only the coun> cillor for the Paemako riding that has done it—l am, etc., P. O'DWYEtfI. Paemako, January 6th, 1913.
