Engineer's Report. —Since making my last report I have visited all parts of the county, and several, times inspected the different woiks in hand - .AH metalling work is. now in full Bwing, and good progress is being made with the formatibn works: Mr "P. Esbelby is , making good progress with'the reforming of the Kinobaku to Waiharakeke road from the landins shed to the Oteke.strea'll bridge, and will complete this portion of his ' work at an early date. Mr"II. Swanson is also engaged on his'metalling contract on Kawhia to Marpkopa river road. A gpod pit has been opened up and quarrying operations are iu progress. Mr F. G. Stokes now has a ■ fair numebr of teams engaged on his metalling contract on, Okupata road, and has about 50 chains of gravel laid on Contract No. 35, and ia now commencing to lay gravel on the -near end of bis Contract No.' 36. •The quality of tbe gravel is , good ■ and is being well laid. Messrs Daviea and Schreiber Bros have been engaged laying metal on their contract during the past few weeks, and ' now have about 50 chains completed. - The quality of the atone used is very good, but tbe metal iB being laid far too heavy, and much in excess of the specified gauge. I have recommended tbe crusher being cloßed more, and more careful feeding of the atone. I expect by this means' better result* Will be obtained. The metal how laid 'will be hand broken, in regard to the erect ioa of the Wbakapirau road 'bridges, the committee appointed to deal with this matter have been successful in arranging for the cutting and delivering of the timber at the bridge sites. Arrangements for building can be made later In regard to Mr A.
