Owing to the s.s. Maori's 1 firemen taking ofTence at a Press Association paragraph which has been circulated stating the s.s. Maori's trip on New Year's Day was abandoned owing to the fiemsn demanding 30s each for the trip, they refused to work the vessel last night. . The steamers Arahura, Te Anau and Tarawera conveyed the Maori's 800 passengers to Lyttelton.

The paragraph was sent by the Press Association yesterday morning, correcting the previous messages, this evidently was not enough to pacify the firemen.
