The weather wa9 perfect, and quite a large number of those interested in the artistic efforts of the young people were present In his opening address Mr Piggot took the opportunity of , congratulating them upon the numerous and beautiful exhibits, and he could Bee by the radiant faces of the youthful exhibitors, that it had given them great pleasure, and certainly it was educational in a direction much to be desired. He thought Mrs Stanton and Miss Biggs particularly happy in 'lighting on this little plan for directing and encouraging the young ideas on these subjects, and the success of the evening gave hopes of an annual event on similar lines. Miss Downes had given valu*. able aid by typing the schedules, which were a great help to the competitors.

After the Sunday-school prizes were awarded, a short musical programme was gone through. The singing of Miss Hahrtyaide, Miss Pickling, Mr Tassel 1 and Mr Poutawera added greatly to the evening's enjoyment.
