F. E. Powell, chief assistant engineer, and l\ J. Mackay. temporary assistant engineer to the Harbour Board, have resigned owing to a difference of opinion between them and the chief engineer respecting certain works.

At yesterday's meeting of tin-' board the chief enignoer, Mr ; lamer, reported that both had applied for increases, which had not, been granted. Then followed the resignations and allegations as to (lie methods of doing certain works. The hoard accepted the resignations and instructed tho chief engineer to report on tho whole subject.
