A MOCK DUEL
FATALITY IN A GYMNASIUM. A LAD KILLED. [BY TKLEGRAPII.—I'KKSS ASSOCIATION'.] Stratford, Monday. Arthur Fred Lawrence, aged eighteen, waa the victim of a fatal shooting 'accident at Toko on Saturday night. A circus was to have performed in the township that evening, but failed to arrive. Lawrence, with a number of companions, was running a mock circus in a room used aB a gymnasium, and a duel was announced between Lawrence and a boy named Corbett, seventeen years of age. The boys took two shotguns from the wall, and they commenced the duel. Lawrence snapped the trigger repeatedly, then Corbett responded. There was a loud report, and Lawrence fell, the'eharge lodging in his jaw and throat. Dr Steven was summoned, and the unfortunate Sad was conveyed to Stratford hospital, but he died before admittance. Examination of the gun showed that both barrels had been left loaded.
