TE KUITI RIFLE CLUB.
The meeting held last Saturday night at the County Chambers- was not so well attended as the promoters wished. Business was, however, proceeded with, as those present at the last two meetings have come to the conclusion that nothing short of a Japanese invasiun will stir the longed-for majority to take an interest in the poceedings. It was moved by the president, Captain Berry, and seconded by Mr Finnis. that an annual subscription of 7s 6d, payable in advance,• be adopted. Messrs Finnis and Handley moved that the question of 'obtaining rifles witn the money that comes to hand from subscriptions be left in the prss'dent's and' secretary's hands, with power to act. Both these resolutions were adopted. The president intimated his intention of presenting a trophy of the value of five guineas to v the club, to be called the "President's _ Trophy," and Mr Finnis, vice-president, will also present a trophy. Both these gentlemen expressed themselves as exceedingly keen for the success of the club.
