TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Tuesday of last week. The Commissioner of Crown Lands, (Mr G. H. Bullard), in the chair, and Messrs J. J. Rattenbury and C. J. Ryan. Mr J. McCluggage forwarded his resignation, which was accepted with regret. RANGERS' REPORTS. Ranger Tolme reported on thirty selections. There were seven defaulters. Defaulters had been communicated with and replies would be submitted in due course. —Received. Ranger Twiss reported on twentytight selections in Huinga Settlement. There were' five defaulters, all of whom had been communicated with, and their replies would be submitted when received. It was pointed out that consideration was required as to strict insistence upon statutory improvements in the case of farms which were improved but had not .had expended on them the money required.—lt was resolved that "such cases be treated on their merits. ' .APPLICATIONS TO SUB-LET. The application of A. G. Stewart to sublet one acre of section 9, block 6, Ngatimaru, to Derby Bros , for a sawmill site, was approved. The application of Francis McCarthy to sublet section 18. block 15, Eaupokonui, 100 acres, to L. Scott, was approved. Application was made for the reconsideration of'a proposal to sublet sections 3, s,'and 10, block 14, Waro, 1391 acres, from C. M. Hawken to R. and A. McMullian. It was stated the sublease was practically merely the taking of grazing rights.—Mr Wake appeared and explained the facts of the case. He urged the point that it was only a question of grazing rights, and that Hawken still intended to improve the property.—The board decided to defer action till the next meeting. TRANSFERS Applications were made for transfers as follows: Robert Wallace, junr, section 2, block 9, Totoro, to Robert Wallace — Approve.d. Albert Paulger, section 6, block 11, Cape, to Turohi. Postponed for ranger's report. H. D. O'Donnell, sections 1 and 2, block 4, Mimi, to H. E. Collins. —Approved. H. Craven, about quarter of an acre of section 7, block 2, Heao, to J. Hanley, adoininjg holder, in order to improve the latter's homestead site. — Approved. L. M. Nayzke, section 6, block 3, Mahoe, to Messrs Perry and McCartie. —Approved. C. Muster, part of section 14, block 2. N. Waitara, to Taranaki Education Board. —Approved. E. W. and W. G. Wilson, section 1, block 3, Mahoe, to E. W. Wilson, owing to dissolution of partnership. —Approved. H. W. A. Thomson to take as partner A. S. Thomson, his brother, in section 26, block 13, Ohura. Approved. Janet Eide, section 4, block 7, Waro. to J. and A. Hagenson.—Approved subject to evidence as to eligibility being supplied. R. P. Coburn, holder of section 8, block 5, Aria, asked to be allowed to take his brother-in-law, D. Ansell, as a partner in section. —Approved. N. Duller, section 2, block 2, Heao, to W. J. Andrews, on account of illhealth. —Approved subject to the production of medical certificate. E. Yandle, section 12, block 6, Ngatimaru, to W. Hanna.—Approved. Section 1, Tikorangi Town Belt, from F. Vickery and J. Vickery, deceased, to F. Vickery and E. A. Vickery.—Approved. L. J. Lloyd, section 9, block 3, Aria, to F. J. McLean. —Approved. J. H. Revell, section 92, Spotswood, to W. T. Cooper. —Approved. E. M. Richardson, section 5, block B,'Ohura, to H. K. Fagan and J. W. Tompkins.—Approved. A. li. T. Jones, part of sections 2308, 2309, 2310, New Plymouth, to A. H. Kendall.—Approved. APPLICTIONS FOR FREEHOLD. Applications for freehold were approved as follows :• -Section 12, block 11, Mimi, Donald Fraser; section 10, block 11', Mimi, N. P. Rickard, Taranaki Education Board part section 14, block 2, Upper Waitara, for school site. GENERAL. Applications was made for renewal of lease of sections 7 and 4, of 189, Pa tea district, at present held by J. F. Pease.—Postponed in order that ranger may report. Ranger Twiss was appointed appraiser. A report was submitted on section 10 block 2, Aria, 12 acres, held back from sale on account of timber. The land was stated to be suitable for dairying purposes, and was valued at £5 per acre. —Resolved to offer the land under part 3 of the Land Act, and to cut out an area to reserve for timber.
