WHEN THE CAT'S AWAY.
MR WILLIS CRITICISED. "A TIN-POT TYRANT." By Toleffrapli.—Press Association.--CopyriKlit Received this day, 9 a.m. Sydney, This Day. The Assembly had another protracted sitting considering the Estimates. The Parliamentary estimates, which had been revised by Sneaker Willis, included an increase of his own salary from £IOOO to ,£1500; an incease of £l6O for tho Chairman uf Committees and a new item of £IOO for each deputy Chairman of Committees. Mr Willis was out of the Chamber and members made the most of the opportunity for untrammelled criticism. His occupancy of the chair was characterised as a reign of terror, and himself an "impertinent tin-pot tyrant"; a bowdle riser of Hansard; a freak; a heaven-born organiser; a political bandit. Mr Lonsdale thought the people associated with the Speaker ought to get higher salaries because of tho indignities they had to suffer. Eventually ail the proposed in creases were negatived on the voices.
