SWIMMING CLUB.

A very enthusiastic meeting in connection with the formation of a swimming club for Te Kuiti was held on , Thursday evening last in the Chronicle oilice, at which meeting, Mr R. B. Gosnell, as one of the convenors of the meeting, explained the aims and objects of such a club, as well as pointing out the advantages to the district in having a proper place set apart for the sport of swimming. It was unanimously decided that a club bo formed, and to bo known as the To Kuiti Swimming Club, the subscription to be of 5a for the season. A shed will be erected on a site to be decided by the Works Committee of the Borough Council as soon as possible, and the committee will meet next Tuesday evening and report to a further general meeting to be held at the Chronicle office next Thusrday evening, when it is hoped something definite will be decided as to the erection of shelter shed, etc. The following gentlemen have been appointed officers for the ensuing year:—President, Mr E. H. Hardy; vice-presidents, Dr McUae, Messrs N. C. Matthew, A. Julian, M. Forsyth, Mostyn Jones, and J. F. Walsh; captain, Rev. R, B. Gosnell; secretary and treasurer, Mr N. K. Evans; committee, Messrs Cowan, Burgoss, Samuel, Rees and Petersen. Hours of bathing were fixed as follows:—Week days. 5 to '.(a.m., <1 to 7 p.m. Sundays, 7to 10 a.m. Halfholidays, Ito 7 p.m. Costume, neck to knee. A large number of members is expected to join, and the secretary will ... be pleased to hear from any gentleman desirous of joining the club.
