RIFLE CLUB'S POSITION.

The Editor. Sir, —Will you kindlv spare roe space for an explanation with regard to the position in which the Rifle Club is placed. Concerning the range, as firing on the site considered most likely and which met J,the views of the Territorial representative, would endanger the Te Ahuroa road, and a3 the Government has announced its intention of going on with this road, the matter is where it was to start with. By courtesy the Rifle Club has a say in its selection, but the range is primarily for the Territorials though the Rifle Club will have free use of it. It is probable that a very early decision will be arrived at. As to rifles- —according to Government regulations there will be a free issue. lam informed, however, that this free issue will not take place until the Territorials and Senior Cadets are armed, which may be a considerable time. It is, therefore, necessary for the club to purchase a few rifles and funds are not available at the moment. Probably an entrance fee and annual subscription will porvide sufficient money to meet the case. Personally, I think that these could be placed as low as 2s 6d and 5s respectively. To settle I the question, it will be well to have a general meeting, and I appeal tn all members, intending members, and those interested with a view to membership, to attend a the County Council office at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday next. 1 shall be very glad if signatories of the Rifle Club roll, who find themselves unable to attend the meeting, will let me know whether they are prepared to pay a small subscription, so that a correct estimate of the cash available may be formed. Any member wishing to purchase a magazine Lee-Enfield rifle for his own use may do so at a cost of £3 13s. which may be paid in three annual instalments. Applications must be made at once. —I am, etc., A. E. ROBINSON, Hon. Sec. Te Kuiti Ritie Club.
