HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The committee will hold their next meeting on Monday, November ISth, at 7.30 p.m.

At last meeting of the Rorough Council the engineer wan instructed to inspect and report as to the specifications under which the roading of McCardle's and Robison's subdivisions was to be carried out. On Monday, December Hth, the proprietors of the Empress I'ict.uro Theatre have kindly consented to give a benefit performance to tin* I'io Rio Medical Association. As the object ib undoubtedly a worthy one, there is little doubt that the attendance on this occasion will be a record one. Attention is drawn to an advertisement appearing in this issue notifying the fact that the Roman Catholic Mission has been unavoidably postponed. The Te Kuiti Town Rand is progressing steadily, and bids fair to become a highly efficient and popular institution in the town. It is gratifying to learn that the King Country Picture Company has generously decided to devote the net proceeds of the initial performance in the new Empress Theatre to the band funds. Tho action of the management is sure to be widely appreciated both by bandsmen and by the public gonerally. With respect to having tho water laid on to the bowling green from tho town mains the borough engineer stated to the Council on Monday Evening that the Borough by-laws provided for tho Council laying tho pipes free of cost a distance of a hundred yards; beyond that distance the consumer had to pay. It was decided to intimate to the club that tho by-law would have to be carried out.
