SUMMER BATHING.

SWIMMING CLUB AT TE KUITI. APPLICATION TO COUNCIL. As summer comes round each year the desirability of establishing facilities for bathing in the river are impressed upon the people, and talk is heard of something being done to provide the much-needed convenience. This year the matter has taken definite shap9, and at Monday night's meeting of the Borough Council an application was received from the Rev. R. B. Gosnell for permission to erect a shed on the river bank for the convenience of bathers. Mr Gosnell intimated that it was intended to form a swimming club. Cr Jones said he thorouhgly agreed with the idea, but pointed out that definite conditions should be fixed with regard to the clothing ofjoathers, and the portion of the river set apart for bathing. The Mayor and other councillors concurred with Cr Jones, and the matter was referred to (ho Works Committee with power to act.
