OTOROHANGA.
ODDFELLOWS' LODGE FORMED
Own Correspondent,
A branch of the Manchester Unity,
1.0.0. F., was formed on Wednesday evening. P.G.M. Bro. Whittaker, P.C.S. Bro. John McLeod, P.P.G.M. Bro. Thomas assisted by a number of visiting brethren from Hamilton and Te Awamutu, initiated the new member, and dedicated the lodge, which is to be called the Loyal Otorohanga Lodge of Oddfellows, M.U. Dr Leeper was appointed medical officer, and Mr Whyte was appointed lodge chemist. Only a small number of intending members were present, but the officials are confident that they will shortly have a good membership, as there are plenty of young fellows in the district.
Owing to a misunderstanding the public meeting wheh was supposed to be held previous to opening the branch was not held until after the ceremony was over, and the bulk of the peop'e who intended being present got tired of waiting, and went home. Bros. Whittaker, Thomas, and McLeod gave very interesting addresses upon the advantages of Oddfellowship.
