ACCIDENT AT MANGAOIAKI.

SETTLER SEVERELY INJURED. On Friday evening about six o'clock Dr Will received an urgent call from Mangaotaki, and as soon as possible made the journey to the homestead of Mr Nelson, who was found to be severely injured. It appears that Mr Nelson had been c!ttini» some bush foiling on his section some distance from the house, and was accustomed to camp out occasionally near his work. Mrs Nelson made it a practice to visit the bush camp daily, and bring her husband's lunch. On Friday, when bringing lunch as usual to the camp, Mrs Nelson could iind no traue of her husband, and fearing an accident had occurred hurried away lor assistance. Two neighbours immediately instituted a search, and at about -I.iJH p.m. Mr Nelson was found lying unconscious where, he had been telleo by the limb ci a tree. At that time the injured man hail been lying for about twenty-four hours, and as the night was bitterly cold he must have suffered severely from exposure. The doctor found a nasty wound on tho back of tho patient's head, and some bruises on tho shoulder. After all that was possible had been done lor tin; injured man he was conveyed to Pio IMo, and from thence to Ta Kuiti on Sunday, and was taken to Hamilton Hospital on Monday morning. At latest advices Mr Nelson was improving and hopes are entertained for his recovery.
