Own Correspondent. Th general meeting of the Mangapehi Cricket Club was held recently, Mr B. W. Hayson presiding. General applause greeted the announcement that the club' was free from debt, and possessed about £l2 worth of material,'in the form of matting, bats, etc. The subscription for the season as fixed at 5". Officers for the ensuing season were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr J. Gray; president, Mr A. Worm; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Butler, F. Hunt, J. Rolland, J. Boyd, C. Reade, J. Pawelka, S. Martin, W. Buck, H. E. Partridge; committee, Messrs A. Kinnell, A. Goodall, L. Kinnell, H. Brumby, S. Goodenough, R. Mills, J. Davidson; secretary, Mr B. W. Hayson; treesurer, Mr A. E. McCracken; selection committee, Messrs Godoall, A. Kinnell and Hayson. Resolved that the captain be elected match bv match. Endeavours will be made to arrange matches with Te Kuiti and other adjacent clubs.

The first match of the season was played against a combined Parikura and Tiroa team at the la3t mentioned place. The weather was showery and unpleasant, yet an enjoyable and exciting game eventuated, The wicket being treacherous, it was decidedly the bowlers' day out, and scores Were consequently low. As eturnpi had to be drawn at 4 p.m. the second innings could not be completed, and Mangapehi was declared the victor on the first innings. The scores were:— Parikura.—First innings: 47; second innings: 62. Mangapehi.—First innings: 54; second innings: 47 for six wickets.
