TE AHUROA ROAD.

A GRANT OF £I2OO. WHICH ROAD IS MEANT? In connection with the grant, of £I2OO, which appears on the Estimates for Te Ahuroa road, there appears to be some confusion as to whether the grant is intended for the old Te Ahuroa road, or for the road leading to the Rangitoto block, which is also known as the Te Ahuroa road. In order to get definite information on the subject some of the Rangitoto settlers waited on Mr Donaldson, the district roads engineer, who inti- I mated that he had no information on the subject other than was afforded by the Public Works Statement, and as the plan indicated the old road a, Te Ahuroa, the vote would have to be expended accordingly, failing instructions to the contrary. Mr Boddie. who spoke on behalf of the road in question at the deputation which waited on tho Hon. W. Fras'er at Te Kuiti, when asked concerning the matter, said he was sure the road for which the money was intended was the new Ahuroa read, which traversed Mr McCardle s property, and gave access to the Crown settlers on the Rangitoto block. That was the road which had always been advocated and was the road concerning which the Minister had boor, interviewed. The department has been communicated with regarding the matter, and it is expected definite information will be forthcoming within the next few days. At the meeting of the Waitomo County Council on Monday evening, Cr Berry drew attention to the fact that a 'mistake had evidently been made. After considering the matter it was decided to leave it to the chairman and Cr Berry to take what steps might be deemed advisable.
