WEDDING BELLS.

Own Correspondent

Quite a flutter of excitement was created at Mangaohae on the 15th inst., the occasion being the marriage of Miss Kathleen Were, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Were, of Mangaohae, to Mr Edward Buckley, of Waitunguru, late of Ratanu. Both the bride and bridegroom have a wide circle of friends in this and the adjacent districts, unmistakable evidence of which was displayed by the very large njmber of visitors who assembled at the residence of tha bride's parents to witness the marriage ceremony and join in the celebrations following. Congratulations and good wishes were showered on the happy couple and they were recipients of many and valuable presents. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Father Brennan, of Te Kuiti. The bride, who was given away by her father, was tastefully attired in cream silk taffeta. She also wore the orthodox wreath and veil, and carried a lovely shower bouquet of clematis and delicate ferns. Miss Nellie Were, as bridesmaid, looked charming in a pretty cream voile frock with picture has to match. Mr George Were carried out the duties of best man. Mr and Mrs Were have a well-established reputation for genial hospitality, and at the conclusion of the ceremony an elaborate breakfast,at which the usual toaßts were honoured, was dispensed in a large marquee erected for the purpose; and a most enjoyable dance was given at their residence in the evening.
