OTOROHANGA.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE,

The monthly meeting of the Otorohanga Chamber of Commerce was held on Tuesday in Mr Willis' office. There was a good attendance. A letter was received from the Te Avvamutu Chamber of Commerce, asking for support in endeavouring to have the second afternoon southbound train from Hamilton delayed one hour, which would make the time the same as the train now runs to on Thursdays.—lt was decided to cooperate with the Te Awamutu Chamber re the above and to write to tho Minister of Railways in reference to delaying the train. The Minister of Railways wrote stating that tho matter of making Otorohanga a stopping place for tho Main Trunk express was receiving attention.
Medical Man. A letter was received from Dr Lieper saying that he would take up his residence in Otorohanga on or about September 30th. —It was decided to thank Mr and Mrs Burnand for the offer of their house, furnished, for the uso of the doctor.
Work for the Executive.—The expcutive aru requested to draw up a list of the urgent requirements of Otorohanga and district, and to place all information available before the Parliamentary representative, so that ho may be cognisant of what ia required. Station Road.—lt was decided to write the railway engineer requesting him to metal the elation road from the post office corner to Ballance street corner.
More Telephones. The executive ia to find out the estimated cost per subscriber for telephones for the settlers along the Pirongia road and around Puketotara and to endeavour to have a telephone office erected at a convenient place about eight miles out. School Teachers' Residence. —it was decided to write to the Uourd of Education supporting the action of the local school committeo in asking for the immediate erection of a teacher's residence upon the site acquired by the board.
Rentals of Sections.—The question oft he native owners bidding repeatedly at the sales of rentals of sections created a lengthy discussion, and both sides uf the question were fairly brought out. The question as to whether the rentals arrived at the auction should be taken as a basis in fixing a price for the a^°
