BUILDING AREAS.
To the Editor. Sir, —I was pleased to see a letter of protest concerning the attempt of certain Borough Councillors to get behind the by-laws recently adopted by the Council with respect to the building areas of the Borough. The bylaw was only passed after the subject had been fully considered arid discussed, and I venture to say if the councillors interested make the attempt to alter the regulation more will be heard of the matter. Gr Julian's ingenuous remarks about his own section with the small frontage clearly define the reason for his interest in the subject. The reason for the Mayor agreeing with him is more difficult to discover unless his desire to be all things to all men is responsible. Let the Council go ahead with a sound progressive policy and they will receive plenty of support from the ratepayers. If thev begin to progress backwards by overriding progressive regulations they don't deserve support. Plenty of work worthy of their best efforts is right in front of them. My advice is "Do it now." —I am, BtC " PRO BONO PUBLICO. Te Kuiti September 20th, 1912.
