TE KUITI DEBATING SOCIETY.

The usual meeting of the Parliamentary Union under the auspices of the Te Kuiti Debating Society was held on Thursday evening in the Municipal Hall. The new Ministry, wnich represents a trial of the principle of the elective executive, was duly installed, and a policy speech was read by the Prime Minister, Mr E. H. Hardy. The speech was somewhat idealistic, and struck a high planesomewhat higher possibly, than will be appreciated by many. A considerable amount of criticism was levelled at the speech, but generally it was commended by the speakers, among whem were Messrs Walsh, Young, Trinnear, Martin Vause, Howarth and Callaghan. The Prims Minister, in replying, stated the one struck by the speech would be maintained in the subsequent legislation introduced and promised measures for debate at an early date. Mr Martin was granted leave to in troduce a private member's Bill, dealing with the valuation system.
