Alfred Buckland and Sons report:— On Wednesday, at our weekly Westfield fat stock market our beef pens contained 285 head, and all of nice quality. There was an improved demand, and values advanced from 15s to 20s per head; choice ox sold to 325, prime 28s to 30a per 1001b; cows and heifers 20s to 26s per 1001b steers ranged in price from £8 to £ls ss, cows and heifers £5 5s to £9 17s 6d, 16 choice quality steers, from Mr E. W. Beer's, Bruntwood, averaged £l4 Is Id. There was a full supply of fat and young calves, which sold steadily at late rates. No heavy calves offered; choice suckers £2 10s to £3 3s. lighter £1 15s to £2 Bs, light 25s to 335, small and fresh dropped 3s to 22s (76 sold). Sheep penned in scarcely average numbers. There was steady demand, with values on the upward tendency. Extra heavy wethers 27s to 28s 9d, heavy 24s 6d to 26s Bd, medium to heavy 20s 6d to 245, unfinished 18s 6d to 20s, best ewes 20s to 21s 6d, others 15s to 19s, spring lambs 19s to 24s 3d, small, 12s to 15s. There was an extra large entry of pigs, all classes being repreented. Choice baconers and porkers maintained late rates, other descriptions were slhghtly eaiser. Choppers £4 5s to £4 13s, large baconers £3 15s to £4 3s, lighter £3 3s to £3 13s, large porkers £2 8s to £3, smaller 34s to 475, slips 19s to 275, weaners 13s to 18s, suckers 8s 6d to lis 6d.

Hams. —Market quiet, but steady. Irish, 86s to 88s per cwt.; English, 90s to 104s; Canadian, 66b to 725; Canadian, 60s to 665. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., are in receipt of the following cable from their London office under date 11th inst.-.—"Butter —Quiet, but we expect an improvement before the new season's shipments arrive.
