PRESBYTERIAN SUNDAY SCHOOL.

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS. Amid perfect climatic conditions the above anniversary celebrations passed off with great success last Sunday and Monday. On Sunday the church presented an especially inspiring scene, as the children with bright dresses and brighter faces, assembled to render praise to Zion. In fact, the day was one of beautiful sunshine both within and without. Under the effective and painstaking conductorship of Mr A. Pattison, and helped by a large adult choir, the children acquitted themselves excellently in their special hymns and pieces. Special solos were rendered during the day by Messrs E. C. Tassell, Moore and Pattison, and Mesdames A. Pattison, Bennett and W. Cowan and Miss Teague, and also by Misses Florence Lineham, Nellie Gillanders, Maisie Rawlinson and Arthur Pattison, all of which were greatly appreciated. Three services were held during the day, conducted morning and evening by the Rev. A. Armstrong, and afternoon by the Rev. S. Griffiths. The discourses were listened to attentively and proved appropriate for the occasion. Large congregations attended all day, and expressed the highest appreciation of the efforts of children and soloists. At the close of the evening service there was a liberal response to an appeal on behalf of the Waihi Presbyterian Church. On Monday evening the Municipal Hall presented a very attractive and pleasant appearance in honour of the first "birthday tea party." The gay flowers and long artistically decorated tables in charge of busy lady workers, were soon subjected a really "devouring attention" by at least a hundred pairs of juvenile eyes. A large company o parents and others were present, and also participated in the "good things" which adorned the various tables. Heartiness and sociability characterised the event and drew forth the unanimous verdict that the tea was indeed one of the "real oldtime sort" and reflected credit on the ladies' committee presided over by Mrs Vercoe, which had charge of proceedings. At the concert in the evening, the hall was packed with an expectant and sympathetic audience of; parents and friends. After devotions the Rev. A. Armstrong, as chairman, piloted through a very talented and much appreciated programme of adult and juvenile items. During the evening short addresses were rendered by the Rev. S. Griffiths Congregational minister, and the Rev. W. Woollass, who was present from Te Awamutu, and a report given showing that the school had more than doubled in numbers during the past year. Frequent calls for encores in the following programme had to be refused:—Song, Mrs W. McColl; song, Mr Proudlock; song, Miss L. Teague; song Mr A. Pattison; song Miss L. Fear; song, Mrs W. Cowan; song, Miss Florence Lineham; song, Miss Nellie Gillanders; recitations, Mrs Bennett, Rev. A. Armstrong; Clive Langmuir and Roy Mac Donald also rendered pieces. Miss E. Langmuir presided very efficiently at the organ all day Sunday, and Miss B. McKay, in the same manner, at the piano for the concert. In closing celebrations which will long be a pleasant memory, the Rev. A. Armstrong made a strong plea for more teachers, and after a general round of thanks to all who had helped to make the anniversary so inspiring, the Doxology concluded the gatherings.
