IS IT SEDITION?

STATEMENT BY THE PREMIER [BY TKLKUItAPII. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday.

"Cannot, we prosecute this man for sedition" asked Mr Harris, member for Waitemata to-day, when he called the Prime Minister's attention to an interview reported in the Lyttelton Times, in which a gentleman recently in Waihi alleged that a Socialist teacher of economics, who conducted a Sunday school, advocated the wanton destruction of employers' property, mentioning the handiness of a plug of dynaimte for such a purpose. The Prime Minister replied that he had seen the paragraph, and although he could hardly believe it correct, he "had referred the matter to the Crown Law officers for' a report as to whether the'law would meet the case. If it could be proved that there had been incitement to injure property, then the law would be set in motion and enforced to the very letter. If the law did not cover it, then he would ask the House this session to amend the law.
