TE- KUITI v. PATERANGI
The result of the hockey matches played at Paterangi on Thursday last, resulted in a double win for Te Kuiti, the ladies winning by three goals to nil, and the men by two goals to one. For the ladies Miss B. McDonald played her usual fine game, and was successful in shooting the three goals. Miss M. Bailey, on the right wing, got in a lot of good work, and deserved credit. The men's match was fast and interesting, both teams being well matched. Paterangi was the first to score. The goals for Te Kuiti wera both shot by Semmens. A match is being played this afternoon between the local team and Otorohanga at Te Kuiti.
Hocky appears to have caught on in Otorohanga, writes our own correspondent. Recruits are joining practically every day, and it will not be long before there will be sufficient members for two men'-s teams. The local boys played their second match of the season on Wednesday, when a smart team from Te Awamutu journeyed to Otorohanga to try conclusions. The game was a very fast one, and, at times had a tendency to become rather rough, several of the Otorohanga boys getting nasty knocks. It was expected that Te Awamutu would win fairly easily, but the game finished up two all. Given more practice, and taking more advantage of combination, the local lads ought to put iin as gcod a record in the hockey field as is put up in the football.
