WORK OF PARLIAMENT.
PREPARING THE ESTIMATES.
Arrears nf departmental work having been made up by the new Minisj tars, they are now engaged in prepar- ! ing the annua! estimates, which mu3t be ready for presentation with the Financial Statement. This important document will not be placed before the House until the week following the resumption of the session, for the Prime Minister has already outlined a programme to keep Parliament busy for the first week at least. The House meets to-day, when an Imprest Supply Bill will be introduced. This gives wide opportunities for discussion. Questions will he answered and notice given of the introduction of several Government policy measures. To-morrow will be devoted to private members' business if members are prepared with the Bills of which they have given notice, and on Friday the Government could get on with some of its own Bills if there is any tim 6 available after sirch formal business as the setting up of sessional committees and so on. Mr Massey could not say when the Financial Statement containing the Government's nolicy would be brought down, but it will probably be early in the week after Parliament resumes.
