TE KUITI DEBATING SOCIETY.

In conseauence of the Hospital Ball being fixed for Thursday evening it has been decided not to hold the usual weeklv meeting of the Parliamentary TTnion" There will, therefore, be no meeting until Thursday, August Bth It is to be hoped there will be a good attendance of both members and public at next sitting. A Bill is now in course of construction by tne billson Cabinet dealing with the sale and control of liauor in the King Country. In view of the importance of the question it is probable that the public will be requested to take part in the discussion. Many opinions have been expressed as to the question under review, but this is the first occasion UDon which a serious attempt has been made to handle the subject in a statesmanlike manner. If for no other reason than its attempts at constructive legislation in the shape of a highly meritorious Land Bill, and its proposals in connection with handling the pquor question, the Ellison Government has iustified its existence. It is understood thac an attempt is to be made to oust the party from office before its real merit becomes thoroughly known, but as ths party is gaining strength rapidly, there is little fear of it being defeated on a division.
